My September Grocery Challenge

Well here it is. My big idea for staying afloat in our finances for the month of September: I am only buying fresh fruits, vegetables, and dairy the entire month. That's it. Nothing else. I also intend to do it for around $100 (max. $150). That works out to feeding the three of us for $25ish a week. Seems a little crazy though, huh? I think so. Like, really think about it. How much do you spend on your groceries every month? I'm slightly ashamed to say that I spend between $400-$500 a month on food and household items! For two adults and a toddler...and that's not including any eating out we might do. So, I've set myself on this challenge out of both necessity for our budget and my curiosity as to whether I can actually stick to the plan. I'm hoping that this will help break me out of some of my grocery buying habits. I've come to realize that I'm actually a bit of a grocery freak. I have trouble using up something in my fridge or pantry unless I buy a

Always Struggling to Make Ends Meet

I don't know about you, but as a one income family we have a really tight, no-room-for-error budget. This is not to say that I didn't bring any outstanding debt to our marriage. I was fresh out of university and had just bo

My Blogging Journey Begins - Introductions

So I'm going to try my hand at this blogging thing that everyone else has been doing for many years....I tend to try new things far, far later than everyone else. If anything, I would say that I'm just looking for a way to write my thoughts and experiences down and perhaps feel a little accountable for them since they will be written down in the cyber universe for all of time. For those of you that have never met me or don't know me all that well, I'm 28 years old, married to a wonderful man, and have been a stay at home mom for 20 months now and have another little one on the way. I haven't exactly been doing it long enough to say I have this whole "Mom" thing figured out. Not even a little bit. But, each day I learn something new and I hope that my posts will give you some wisdom, maybe a little advice, and a small window into the every day battlefield of my life - full of joy, exhaustion, trial-and-error, love, frustration, humor, and patience (or the
