Still on Track!

I just wanted to say I'm still on track for my monthly spending! Hooray!

Here's what I bought last week for my produce:

I was able to get all my fruits and veggies for the week for $9.56 - bringing my monthly total to $54.60. I get my produce mainly from a little store in White Rock/South Surrey called "Chan's." They remind me of the T&T I used to go to in Edmonton but the store is a little cleaner and the produce is one step up in quality. They tend to have the best prices overall for this area and they also have a clearance bin that often has some really great stuff in it for even cheaper!

I am planning on going shopping again in the next day or two for the dairy/produce I'll require for the week of Sept. 15th-21st so we'll see how my budget continues to work. Chad has requested I buy popcorn (not exactly a perishable item...) and I think I will break my rules for him. He's an evening snacker and he usually eats chips or pretzels every night. He is running super low on his snacking options and I feel that buying a 1kg bag of popcorn seeds from Walmart for $1.67 is a sound investment into the happiness of my husband, lol.

Switching gears a little.....baby and I are still doing great :) I just had a prenatal appointment yesterday and everything is still progressing well. I get to endure the glucose tolerance test in the next couple weeks; lucky me! For those of you who have never experienced it or heard about it, it's a test that you have during your pregnancy where they make you drink this horridly sweet orange drink and make you sit in a waiting room for an hour. Then, they take your blood and test your sugar levels. It's not the worst thing in the world...there are obviously worse parts to pregnancy than drinking orange sugar water...but it's not all that pleasant either. But, it's all in the name of having a happy, healthy baby so bring it on!

Here's me and baby girl on Monday at 26 weeks pregnant. I got this shirt in the mail that morning from my Momma :) Love you, Mom!

The New Year and Another Surgery

Holy moly, where does the time go?? It still feels like yesterday that we were walking through the recovery process from Julia's frontal orbital advancement surgery, but it was 5 months ago! I see photos of her from before the surgery and I can hardly remember her little face and the shape it used to be, yet surgery seems to have barely come and gone; it's funny how the concept of time can be so skewed. When I start looking back through photos, though, I realize how many things have happened in between then and now. Winter time and Christmas have come and gone. We had a few small sprinklings of snow and we took every opportunity to get outside. Abby was all about building snowmen this year (surprisingly, she hasn't even watched Frozen, so we can't blame it on that!), so we would take the 24 hours window of time we had before the snow melted and build a snowman. With the start of 2016 came a very long string of doctor's appointments. All the specialis...

Welcome to the world little Julia! The beginning of our new journey....

Hey everyone. Sorry it's been so long since my last post...life around here has been extra busy! On December 13th, 2014 we welcomed our second daughter, Julia Anne Wookey, to the family. She was born weighing 9lbs 1oz and measuring 23 inches long. I knew she would be a big girl - we don't make small babies. Labor and delivery went well. I started having contractions around 9am on the 12th and they steadily got stronger. Chad and I headed to the hospital around dinner time. The nurses monitored me and baby's heart rate for quite some time; Julia's pattern for her heart rate was a bit abnormal during my contractions so they wanted to keep an eye on it. We had the exact same scenario happen during my labor with Abby and in the end they decided to admit me and then the fun began. I labored all through the evening and eventually succumbed to the pain. I asked for an epidural and they also gave me some laughing gas while the anesthesiologist made his way to my room. ...

A Bit of a Rough Week

Well, this week was a little rough for me. After such a great weekend full of family the days after sort of just fell short. I settled into my routine of cooking, cleaning, and toddler duty and the days went by; but, they were lonely. I was able to have a brief visit with Mom Wookey on Wednesday as she was my much appreciated babysitter while I went to the lab for my gestational diabetes blood work, but other than that I didn't exactly get much adult contact. Chad has been gone for suppertime three nights this week so my morning to night has been filled with dogs and a toddler who only speaks one word sentences. Not that I'm totally complaining....I LOVE my one word conversations with Abby :) her vocabulary is growing immensely! But, it's not at all comparable to full sentences and the thought processes that adults have. Being a stay at home has some great perks but it also can be really tough! No one tells you or prepares you for the reality of losing day-to-day intera...
