My Blogging Journey Begins - Introductions

So I'm going to try my hand at this blogging thing that everyone else has been doing for many years....I tend to try new things far, far later than everyone else. If anything, I would say that I'm just looking for a way to write my thoughts and experiences down and perhaps feel a little accountable for them since they will be written down in the cyber universe for all of time.

For those of you that have never met me or don't know me all that well, I'm 28 years old, married to a wonderful man, and have been a stay at home mom for 20 months now and have another little one on the way. I haven't exactly been doing it long enough to say I have this whole "Mom" thing figured out. Not even a little bit. But, each day I learn something new and I hope that my posts will give you some wisdom, maybe a little advice, and a small window into the every day battlefield of my life - full of joy, exhaustion, trial-and-error, love, frustration, humor, and patience (or the lack thereof!).

I hope you enjoy participating in this thing called "life" with me as you read (and please, feel free to comment too!) about my experiences, my thoughts, and my journey as this stay at home momma makes her way in the world.

Always Struggling to Make Ends Meet

I don't know about you, but as a one income family we have a really tight, no-room-for-error budget. It seems like money is always on my mind and it's always regarding the fact that we never have quite enough. There are days where I feel like we're treading water pretty well, but the majority of the time it feels like we have this rock of debt attached to us and it's dragging us under. There always seems to be more month than money and I have yet to succeed in finding the key to getting out of this hole. It all goes back to the days before my hubby and I got married. He LOVES cars and his hobby was always buying, modifying, and selling them so he could buy something new. I love that he has a passion for cars but they aren't exactly money makers.....so when we said our vows "for richer or poorer" we most definitely had to mean it. This is not to say that I didn't bring any outstanding debt to our marriage. I was fresh out of university and had just bo...

How is it already the middle of the month!?

Anyone else feeling like the month of September is flying by?? It's going to be October before we know it and that means Thanksgiving and Halloween already. Boy oh boy! I'm also really excited that it's the middle of the month because it's pay day. Hooray! I don't think there's a single person who doesn't like pay day. I mean, don't get me wrong, pay day doesn't mean we will now have money to throw around and spend frivolously (the thought of that actually makes me laugh since it's SO far from our present situation) but it does mean that our bank account moves slightly out of the red...until the next wave of bills get paid. Hah! But it's at least a momentary reprieve. I'm learning to find joy in the little things - no matter how short and fleeting - in order to stay sane and keep hope :) I have my weekly grocery update for you guys now. Here's what I bought for the week of September 15th - 21st: I went a little more crazy in ...

The New Year and Another Surgery

Holy moly, where does the time go?? It still feels like yesterday that we were walking through the recovery process from Julia's frontal orbital advancement surgery, but it was 5 months ago! I see photos of her from before the surgery and I can hardly remember her little face and the shape it used to be, yet surgery seems to have barely come and gone; it's funny how the concept of time can be so skewed. When I start looking back through photos, though, I realize how many things have happened in between then and now. Winter time and Christmas have come and gone. We had a few small sprinklings of snow and we took every opportunity to get outside. Abby was all about building snowmen this year (surprisingly, she hasn't even watched Frozen, so we can't blame it on that!), so we would take the 24 hours window of time we had before the snow melted and build a snowman. With the start of 2016 came a very long string of doctor's appointments. All the specialis...
